Life is good...God is really good...

Well...hope no one has been seeing the previous post and thought we had gone off the deep end. We definitely had some serious stuff to deal with, but we're good now...plugging along and trusting God to take care of us beyond our own abilities. He is so good and provides when we allow Him!

We've had a full summer, but really haven't done much of anything. The girls and I got to go to camp and had big fun there...who can ask for a week with more fun than camping, cousins, drinking from the spout, playing cards, a "private drive" to ride bikes on until your legs fall off--or the skin on your feet is rubbed completely off--
and a mud slide?! Really--there's not much better than that!
I'll have to elaborate tomorrow...or in three months, whichever comes first! It's time to head home from the office and get ready for 2nd grade open house with Peyton!

Wednesday, May 14

I have nothing nice to say...

So rather than whine and complain or be mean, I will say nothing at all. Please don't ask, just pray for our family. I may find it within myself to update someday. Today is not that day. But we do need your prayers...God is in control and He will provide.

National Organize Your Desk Day

Who knew there was such a day?! One of my girlfriends emailed me yesterday and let me know. Thank goodness...I thought I was just procrastinating as I shuffled junk around my desk all day...turns out I was celebrating a National holiday!

Today...we should have another holiday. My desk looks worse than before. So much for organizing. But I'll call it progress. I don't know why...but I will. Things were moved. That's progress, right?!

So, we're firin' up the smoker this weekend (assuming we get some wood delivered between now and Friday!!)...and I'm looking forward to tasting all the pulled pork--I like to call it "quality control". Hopefully we get some more orders...it's kinda slim right now. We are really enjoying this new endeavor. We take orders and smoke meat for people every 2-3 weeks and it's going really well! We have had lots of repeat business, so I'm guessing others are enjoying it--not just me and my "quality control"! Scott is really enjoying getting to cook so often and I like doing it too...the clean-up is pretty intense on Saturday nights, but hey...I should mop every couple of weeks anyway, right? It's good incentive when you can't walk across the kitchen floor without sticking!

AND...just for the record...we haven't had snow or ice in Jackson in almost a week. Now that is something to smile about!

Monday, March 10

Oh...nothing.

I'm not sure that I really have anything to say...I just thought of blogging and so here I am. I'm sure I'll come up with something in a minute....like my College Prep Writing teacher, Mrs. Reimann used to tell us, "You have to write for 15 minutes. If you don't know what to write, just write, 'blah blah blah...' until you think of something." It worked then. I think it's working now, too!

So, I haven't mentioned the big hair change in our house...Savannah has taken over as the girl with the longest hair! Peyton has wanted to be Rapunzel for years...and was getting pretty close to being able to let her hair down low enough to pull someone up from below. She had been getting increasingly whiny when I had to fix her hair though and I threatened to take her and have it cut like mine. Needless to say, she quit whining about the tangles and then whined about how mean that was and no way did she want to cut her hair. So I tried a new approach..."You could get your hair cut and give it to someone who has lost their hair because they are sick." She thought that sounded pretty neat. So we talked about it every time I brushed her hair for about a month to make sure she was sure.

She was. She decided to donate her hair to Locks of Love and we went and got it cut a few weeks ago. They cut off 10 inches and Peyton is thrilled! She loves her new hair, the attention and is growing it again so she can donate it again. ("and again and again and again until all the kids have hair.") She told me before the cut, "Mom, I think a girl should get it because I just don't think a boy would look good with my hair." :o)

And by the way, I got my hair cut too. Surprise! As it turns out, we had another day off school on Friday...UGH...and I called my hair girl first thing since I figured all the "blue-hairs" would cancel their appointments! They did and my hair is no longer touching my ears...it also no longer looks similar to the icicles that are in my last post...it's all brown again! Hooray!

Happy Monday!

**I can't get pictures on right now...the server is "experiencing problems" and won't upload them. I'll try again tomorrow.**
***Nevermind. Got it. One at a time. You better really appreciate these pics. lol!***

Wednesday, March 5

Yeah Yeah...

I know, I know...I need to post again...

I need to do lots of things again:
I need to get a haircut again.
I need to do the laundry again...and again...and again...
I need to empty the dishwasher again...so I can fill it again.
I need to balance the checkbook again...probably before any of the rest of this!
I need to reorganize my office again.
I need to change all the sheets in the house again.

I need to do the bulletin again.

I'm sure there's something else...again. But apparently, I have forgotten it...again!

For today, I will say this...sunshine is bad for ice. But good for the rest of us!! We are thrilled to hear ice melting all around today! I have had enough winter in the past 5 weeks to last for the next two or three years!

We "enjoyed" an unexpected "vacation" from school the second week of February when we got several inches of ice throughout Monday and Monday night of that week and were without power for about 36 hours...the house stayed pretty warm until late in the day andthe girls made commercials and skits for us and Scott & I got to be the judges! They were hilarious!

After going to Mom & Dad's and whipping up hot dogs and a pot of chili on the gas grill (in the garage!--don't worry...we breathed other air often)--we decided to camp out in the basement instead of trying to stay upstairs. A wise choice...and more fun memories! We took candles down and made pallets in the playroom for everyone to sleep on...we talked about our favorite things and read Bible stories by candlelight. The upstairs temp. was about 42 degrees when we got up on Wednesday morning, but we didn't get much below 60 in the basement. Nothing a pair of Land's End long johns and and extra sweatshirt can't handle! The power came back on late that morning and a cheer went up in the Watson household--even though the girls were hoping for another night of camping out!! We convinced them that we could do that anytime...even if the power is on! The ice began melting on Valentine's day...the first day we had of sunshine. Everything was beautiful...as long as you could get past the downed power lines and tree branches that were all along the sides of the roads...and still are! It will take some time to recover, but everyone is warm and clean again, so we'll be okay!

The kids went back to school the following week but then missed another 2 days at the end of the week for snow or ice...I don't remember! It's all melting together in my mind! ha! We just missed our EIGHTH day yesterday...more ice. Savannah says if we miss 10 days it's a natural disaster and they don't have to make the days up...hmmmm...sounds like we're getting close!

The weather is the news here these days...I'm sure there's some other stuff to talk about...maybe I'll think of it while I'm not getting my hair cut or not doing the laundry or not doing the dishes or balancing the checkbook or changing the sheets or reorganizing the office or doing the bulletin.
Again.
